On the right there is a tidy attached two storey cottage with a picket fence which displays a For Sale sign. [General description] A row of two storey stone terrace houses, each with its own wooden window shutters, chimneys and picket fence. There is an inscription on a scroll above the parapet of the building which reads 'Lock Terrace 1869'. The photograph was taken from the opposite side of Gouger Street. A cart is parked outside the second hand furniture shop. The banks hours of business include Sauturday morning and Friday evening. [On back of photograph] Acre 404. [General description] A man is digging in front of a row of cottages. He is doing something with pipes as there are several pieces of pipe in his wheelbarrow and on the footpath. His broom and shovel are propped against a large handcart at the kerb.Other implements lean against a telephone pole. [General description] Supreme Court Hotel on the corner of Gouger Street and Mill Street. J. Mansom is the proprietor. The verandah has a striped roof and covers the footpath. A small balcony juts out from a doorway on the first storey. Next door to the Hotel is T.G. Williams Motor and Cycle Works. [On back of photograph] Acre 407. Gouger Street, south side. 1899-1909. [General description] In May 1887 Laura Mary Louisa Corbin founded the South Adelaide Day Nursery (later known as Creche) to provide affordable high standard childcare for working mothers. This was a popular cause. In August 1896, watched by a large crowd she laid the foundation stone for this beautiful dolls-house like building, paid for by donations from the Children's Sunbeam Society. The Co-operative stores can be seen on the left, with its name displayed on a large sign on its roof.
