[General description] A view from the top of the General Post Office looking south across Victoria Square towards the southern suburbs. A parade of schoolchildren marching behind banners is taking place. The onlookers are also holding banners and one says "Rose Park". The parade is winding its way past the Statue of Queen Victoria in the middle of the road between Wakefield Street and Grote Street. Many trees are growing in each of the four parks that make up Victoria Square. This photograph is of interest as it has been taken from high and gives a different view of the buildings in the southern part of Adelaide. [On back of photograph] King William Street. [General description] Students and staff are all lined up in front of the North Adelaide Model School building, with the smartly uniformed school band standing proudly out the front. The building, designed by E.J. Woods, (who also designed the 'model school' in Grote Street), is of stone with brick facings and features a bell tower. [On back of photograph] 'Tynte Street, Public School, 1889, far side of the school is 40 yards west of Margaret Street and frontage is 48 yards'.

Brown Street, west side, 21 February 1925, the right side is 27 yards south of Grote Street, frontage is 9 yards. This two storey building is called Halifax House and displays ornate wrought iron lace work around the first storey balcony. Part of the balcony has been fenced in using trellis. The ground floor houses Mrs EA Wylie's confectionery and grocery shop. A wide verandah shades the front of the shop and a hitching post.

The small cottage (on the left of Kingsway building) is known as Luton cottage and has a frontage of 8 yards. For buildings previously on the site of Kingsway Ltd (completed in 1954) see B 3229.
