John Chalk was the master and part owner of the 'Broughton' from 1892 until his death at sea in 1898. His last voyage started in Jaunary 1896 to trade with South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. He left Newcastle, NSW in 1898 on his way to Coquimbo, Chile, then to the UK [additional information supplied by a researcher].
