Summary

The iron barque 'Archer', 900 tons, as scrap. [iron barque 789 tons. ON74535, 189.1 x 32.0 x 18.7. Built 1876 (7) R. Thompson junior, Sunderland. Owners P. Iredale and Son. Registered Liverpool abandoned August 1894 in damaged condition, salvaged and repaired and re-rigged as a barquetine now 900 tons and owned in San Francisco. Eventually converted into a hulk in British Columbia.]

One of the ships owned by the Iredale and Porters Fleet, Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
