[General description] Two early Adelaide cottages, one double fronted and the other single fronted are nestled together. They have small gardens with fences built from wooden paling, picket and brick. The cottage on the right appears unoccuped at this time as the windows are boarded up and the slate roof is in disrepair. It is about to be renovated, see B 4892 for result. [General description] This single storey gabled building is probably a pair of attached cottages as there are two sets of French windows in its street frontage and two front gates. The verandah is trimmed with fretwork. There is a fire hydrant at the kerb. [General description] This is a pair of stone cottages with arched doorways and fancy brick quoins which appear to share one chimney. Their dividing picket fence is dilapidated. [General description] Two storey blue stone house with an upper balcony on South Terrace. A low wall and railings surround the front of the house. [On back of photograph] Acre 699 South Terrace. January 25th, 1926. Near side of the two storey house, (residence of Mr. A.A. Edwards, MP) is 89 yards east of West Terrace. Frontage of this house is 15 and a half yards.

[General description] The new section of this hospital is two storey and built in the late Federation style. The lattice work and carved wooden embellishments on the verandah are typical of the nineteen twenties. This is probably the new Maternity Wing. (See The Argus (Melbourne,... Monday 2 March 1925). [General description] These buildings comprise the Methodist Memorial Hospital complex. The middle house and the one on the right were originally private dwellings named Lea Hurst and the Avenues, identical houses designed by Daniel Garlick and built for Thomas Johnson in 1874. They were purchased for the Memorial Hospital in 1918 and an access corridor was added between the buildings. St Peter's Cathedral can be seen on the left. [General description] It appears that renovations may be in progress on this bluestone house with brick quoins and classical cement dressings around its windows. There is a pile of rubble, a ladder is propped on the side wall and a workman stands in front of the building. There is a pile of sand in the front yard and the front door is hanging open; perhaps renovations are under way. Its neighbour, a one storey cottage nestles close. [General description] Various characters appear in this street scene in the village of North Adelaide. Open fields are seen in the background and the roads are unmade. A coachman drives a smart carriage and pair of horses through the mud whilst the lady passengers hold up their parasols. In the centre of the view a team of four bullocks stands with a loaded cart. (This refers to an incident where Charles Kingsford-Smith took the Southern Cross up to Timor to pick up a consignment of mail stranded there by a damaged Imperial Airways aircraft that was carrying it to Australia.) A sign advertises Seppelts Famous Port next to the small building in the middle, the premises of a bootmaker named JH Beyer.
