[General description] Large house on the corner of East Terrace and Gilles Street. Possibly the home of T.N. Hardy Vinegrower. The rambling two storey house has arches covering a verandah on the ground floor and balconies on the first floor facing the parklands. Creeping vines cover much of the house. [On back of photograph] Acre 661. South corner of East Terrace and Gilles Street. About 1896. Telegraph pole on the extreme right is 47-1/2 yards west of East Terrace. Far side of gable on left is 31 yards south of Gilles Street.

[General description] This Victorian mansion is seen from its South Terrace frontage. It has a smaller side balcony on addition to its large decorative front one. A section has been taken out of the wall at the side of the building, possibly to put in a gate. [General description] This impressive two storey stone Victorian mansion features a gabled verandah decorated with iron lace. The slate Mansard roof has a central tower and a widow's walk. The front fence is also of stone and is topped with decorative wrought iron. [General description] This large two storey house has a wrought iron decorated balcony and front fence. Known as Torrens House it became the premises for the Mothers and Babies Health Association's mothercraft hospital and training school in 1939. [General description] This new building has a cement rendered facade in the Art Deco style. It is two storey, divided into two wings, one each side of a central stairwell. The balconies have plain tubular steel rails and a curved section over the doorways. [General description] This pair of two storey terrace houses is about to be overshadowed by a new, larger building, the Deaf and Dumb Mission and Angas Home. Two men are at work amongst the foundations of the new building, and there is the usual clutter of a building site, including stacks of bricks and mounds of earth. [General description] This impressive two storey brick building is Georgian in style featuring a gabled tiled roof, cement pilasters on its facade and a verandah with heavy pillars. Messrs. Woods, Bagot, Jory and Laybourne-Smith were the architects. The building is partially obscured by deciduous trees in winter. There are gardens in the foreground. [General Description] Green Dragon Hotel on the corner of South Terrace and Hanson Street, now Pulteney Street. A large hoarding advertises Lion Flour, Blaca Collars Shirts and Pyjamas, Viceroy Tea, Soap "Safeguard baby's priceless down and that schoolgirl complexion." The Wondergraph Theatre is advertising a performance of "The Necessary Evil" with Ben Lyon and Viola Dana on Saturday November 28th. [On back of photograph] Acre 677 Hanson Street, West side Nov. 27th 1925. The hoarding and all the little premises next to it, with the exception of the one marked "Farrier and Smith", were demolished in 1926 and a petrol service station was erected on the site. On the left is South Terrace, on extreme right is Delhi Street.

The building is called Green Dragon after the Green Dragon Hotel which existed on Acre 677 from 1858

The house stands on the eastern boundary of the acre. Two houses are shown in this photograph. The one on the left is a Californian bungalow design and the one on the right is a symmetrical bluestone cottage with a flagpole in the front garden.

Symonds Place, east side; 1st November 1963. Right side of cottages is 53 yards north of South Terrace, frontage is 27 yards. A row of three cottages line the eastern side of Symonds Place near South Terrace. According to a researcher, these cottages were opposite and possibly the workers cottages for a coffee and spice roasting business that was operated by a Frederick William Richards who arrived in SA in 1852. He operated this business FW Richards and Son from about 1860 when town acre 683 2021 and other adjoining property was listed in his name and called "new factory ". They lived around the corner on South Tce. He died in 1908 and his son Frederick John Allen Richards (by first wife) and son William John Richards appear to have operated the business until 1918. Until 1927 a FJ Richards is recorded as living in Symonds place.

On the right one small child pushes another seated in a billycart (?) The two storey building may be a private hospital as B 6610 shows alterations made to it in 1933 when it is called Rocca Povena Hospital. [General description] This photograph features a pair of two storey houses on South Terrace. They are built from stone, with an iron lace balcony and a wrought iron front fence. An R. Mitchell & Co. van is parked in front of the small cottage next door, which appears to be in process of alteration (or demolition). There is some furniture on the footpath. R. Mitchell's were carriers, carpet re-layers and furniture storers.
