[General description] This plain two storey stone building is the Arab Steed Hotel, in the time of licensee M.J. Lucas. It is one of Adelaide's oldest hotels, the first license being issued on the 20th September, 1849. Attached to the right of the hotel are five two-storey terraces which were built in 1877 by William Holmesby and, although having a different owner, were designed to complement the hotel. On the left is a sign which reads: 'Bunyip Naptha Soap. Even a man can do it'. A pair of horses hitched to a covered wagon stand at the kerb.
