[General description] This modern three storey corner building exudes confidence. Its lines are plain but there are art deco touches in the leadlight detail in the top storey windows and the decorative parapet bearing the name of the company. It is only just completed as the windows are still whitewashed and shops on the ground floor have 'to let' signs in their windows. The firm was founded by Alfred George Healing in 1896, initially producing bicycles, but later diversified into manufacturing radios, television sets, refrigerators and washing machines. Two cars are seen on the road in the foreground, one a flat-bed utility. [General Description] East side of Pulteney street south of Pirie street. The premises of Parsons and Robertsons mechanical and electrical works consists of twin cottages joined by a central throughway. Residential two storey bluestone cottages are located next door. A church steeple can be seen over the roofs of the cottages. [On back of photograph] Acres 211 and 228 Pulteney Street, east side. Nov. 26th, 1925. [General description] Looking east along Pirie Street from Hindmarsh Square. Business and light industrial premises are seen along the street. The Aurora Hotel (on the left) opened in 1859 as the Black Eagle, its name changed to the Aurora in 1894. Demolished in 1983 despite spirited campaigning to save it. [General description] The corner building is a factory manufacturing Whybrow's Exhibit footwear. On the right is another newer building, possibly another factory. A sign on one of the utility poles on the corner says "Caution drive slowly". [On back of photograph] 'Acre 214 / Pirie Street, south side / May 16th, 1926 / The low brick building on the east side of Ackland St. was erected in 1925 on what was, for the most part, a vacant site, and at the same time the two storey building on the corner underwent slight alterations.
