Water coloured, lithographed map of land sections in the County of Hindmarsh, South Australia showing townships, drainage, bridges, reserves, the area of the Mount Barker mineral survey and numbered sections with unsold sections marked. The boundaries of the hundreds with the County are shown in colours and an inset map shows the adjoining Counties of Russell and Sturt around the Murray Lakes, Hindmarsh Island and the Murray Mouth. Lake Alexandrina is shown as Lake Victoria (its change of name proposed after the accession of Queen Victoria). Archival copies indicate land and section holdings of the South Australian Company.

Wool was brought down the NSW river system to the railhead at Echuca, then on to Melbourne for the clipper fleet to Europe. An unique wharf enabled boats to be handled at almost any river height and in busy seasons the port often worked day and night. photographer unknown'. The grand opening caused much excitement in the town and the local shops were decorated for the occasion. This photograph shows a bridge of garlands over Murray Street. Travel in Tasmania in the late nineteenth century, album of views showing tourist and beauty spots near Hobart and the Huon Valley. Some photographs are attributable to the noted Melbourne photographer, Alfred Winter, who moved to Hobart in 1869. The album includes 33 pages of cuttings, mostly lithograph illustrations from newspapers. Several pages of cuttings depict women novelists, poets and social thinkers of the early nineteenth century. Ruled page borders in ink have been hand drawn around the photographs.

Paddle steamer 'Lancashire Lass' pulling a barge loaded with wool bales. This image has been reproduced as a postcard with the following on the verso 'P.S. "Lancashire Lass" and barge. The development of large sheep runs in the 1880s spurred the development of the barge as an efficient means of transporting bulky cargoes in a shallow draught vessel.
