P&O Oriana (ship) visit to Adelaide 21/11/1975. 'The P&O superliner Oriana (ship) is due to visit Outer Harbour for the first time on January 29. The 42,000-tonne ship will berth at 5 p.m. and sail at 10 p.m. the same day for a circle Indian Ocean cruise, visiting nine countries and returning to Adelaide on March 7. One of the largest and best-known passenger liners in the world, Oriana (ship) has accommodation for 1,800 passengers and carries a crew of 780. She is fully air-conditioned and stabilised. If by some magical process it was possible to remove the ship from her natural element and place her upright alongside Grenfell Centre, Adelaide's tallest building, Oriana's bow would be 245 m above street level and well over twice the height of the new office tower at 103 m.'
