The centre building was erected in 1941 on the site of a group of cottages which were demolished before a photograph could be made. The main building shown in the photograph houses the United Egg Producers Company.

Madge Motors and Breakdown Service, Grote Street, south side, corner of Moonta Street, 5 July 1924. Frontage of building is 28 yards. Cars of the era are parked out the front and at the side of Madge Motors and Breakdown Service Limited. There is also a petrol bowser and a stunted Morton Bay fig tree on the footpath. Possibly a tram line runs in front of the building. For a photograph taken on March 28th 1924 before the appearance of Madge's advertisements see B 2206. Madge Motor's, Grote Street, Adelaide
Madge Motors and Breakdown Service, Grote Street, Adelaide, south side, on the corner of Moonta Street. This photo was taken on the 9th April, 1925. There is an early petrol bowser in front of the garage, and a stunted Moreton Bay fig tree on the corner. Hubbard Motors Ltd., Grote Street, south side, 27 December 1956. Includes advertising for Matchless Motor Cycles and Hub Ray Cycles. Right side of Hubbards building abuts west side of Moonta Street, frontage is 28 yards. Building previously occupied by Madge Motors. According to a family member, Hubbard Motors was established in 1927 by Arthur Hubbard, Thomas Hubbard and Charles "Les" Bray. Compare with B 2656 taken in 1925. According to the advertising on the building Hubbards also dealt with television sets, radiograms, washers and refrigerators

The Empire Theatre, Grote Street, south side, 1952. Right side is 8.5 yards east of Moonta Street, frontage is 17 yards. The alterations were made before 1954 (probably in 1953) The theatre was used between 1909 and 1952 and was designed to show moving pictures as well as theatrical performances.The theatre remained in operation until 1952. It was designed by architect A Barnham Black. On the opening night on April 10, 1909, Vaudeville acts along with moving pictures were featured

South West corner of Grote Street and Victoria Square, 27 March 1929. On the right is Page Street. Where the gap occurs in the verandah a shop front was installed and the verandah made continuous in 1929. George Adams Limited Rich Cakes stands next to Turner's sellers of ham and cakes. Next door to this is Tuckers Seedlings and then Rogers Jewellers. The first storey of this building (Globe Chambers) houses among others, EP Rowley dental surgeon and James A Gibson. The Moores department store can be seen behind the building in Victoria Square.
