Oakley Place, west side, 9 May 1898. Lane on the left runs east and west and is 32 1/2 yards north off Grote Street. The bluestone building houses three cottages which are entered straight from the street. Oakley Place is between Morphett Street and West Terrace.

Trades Hall, Grote Street, Adelaide, north side 1896-1903. Trades Hall was opened in 1896. Frontage: 13 yards Right side is 14 yards west of Morialta Street. The first sod was turned July 30 1895 and the Foundation Stone was laid on Eight Hour Day on September 2, 1895. The completed Trades Hall was opened on March 4, 1896 but by 1925 the premises were cramped. The building was sold in 1964 and new premises were built on South Terrace.

The South Australian District of the Independent Order of Rechabites was established in 1860. Prior to this the Southern Star Tent was instituted in Light Square in 1848. It was a temperance organisation that helped to reform those afflicted by alcohol abuse

Grote Street, north side, 6 December 1963. Right side of Her Majesty's Theatre abuts Pitt Street; frontage is 29 yards. This theatre was built in 1913 and has a number of name changes in its history - Princess Theatre, Tivoli Theatre, Prince of Wales Theatre, Her Majesty's Theatre and the Opera Theatre. After a revamp it is expected to seat 1,500 by 2020. The original theatre was designed by architects Williams and Good and built on land previously used by market gardeners and stallholders at the City Market to park their carts and feed their horses

[General description] These early Adelaide cottages have evidently been purchased and are now undergoing demolition. A sign attached to the front wall of the one on the right indicates that it had been for sale by Agents T. Stephens and Son. The street tree is a Ficus.
