Child's sketchbook and artworks

Collection of an unknown child's artworks dated approximately to the late 19th century, comprising: a sketchbook detailing leisure activities; extremely detailed illustrations of houses, gardens, and a sailing ship, spread over multiple sheets, showing exterior views on one side, and interior views on the reverse; and a collection of hand-made paper dolls. The works are presumed to have been created by the same child, with the sketchbook likely created first, and the illustrations of houses created at a later date, as they show improvement in skill and technique. Album relating to early South Australia and Northern Territory

Photographs, sketches and news clippings pasted onto loose album pages, relating to the early history of South Australia and the Northern Territory. Includes captioned photographs of the kangaroo hunting expedition near Lake Albert in November 1867 at which Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, was a guest. Other items in the albums include photographs and copies of sketches of Aboriginal people, and images of surveyors and land selectors in the Northern Territory. A number of unrelated clippings and images have been added to the album, possibly by Daly's children.

Aerial photographs of Berri Growers Co-operative Distillery Company, later Berri Co-operative Winery and Berri Estates, on the Old Sturt Highway. The property comprises a number of buildings, largely made of corrugated iron, and large tanks next to each building. A water tower is in the middle of the premises, and two small rectangular ponds sit behind the buildings.

Aldgate Institute Library. The small red brick building with rendered quoins and surrounds housed the library from 1937. The Depression caused the change of plan from a large Institute building to this small structure. The Aldgate Institute had formed in 1920 and operated a library during the years of 1921 - 1937 from the post office. The Wesleyan Church next to the Library is a simple austere nineteenth century stone building with dressed stone quoins and pointed arch windows. The building was used from 1884

[General description] This faded sepia photograph shows Alice Springs township in its infancy. It has a few stone dwellings with outbuildings, stockyards and what appears to be a small tannery operation with a large number of hides hanging on fencing. The township is set amongst eucalypts and peppertrees.

Lindsay House & Park Angaston

Lindsay House and Park, near Angaston residence of George Fife Angas about 1875. George Fife Angas came to South Australia in 1851 and laid out the town of Angaston registering it in 1857. He was Chairman of the South Australia Company and later established the South Australia Banking Company (Bank of SA) He recruited emigrants in order to develop the colony. The photograph shows a large two storey house built on a small hill surrounded by lawns and tree studded parklands. In the foreground cattle are grazing and a rider is approaching on horseback.

Portion of town of Angaston, December 1938. John Howard Angas looked after his father's interests in South Australia until the father's arrival in 1851. They became a prominent family settling in the Barossa Valley along with other large pastoral land holders.

[General description] Anlaby station was settled by Captain John Finnis in 1839 and acquired by the Dutton family in 1841. It is the oldest Merino stud in Australia and was renowned for its gardens with plants sourced from all over the world.
