A sign attached to the front wall of the one on the right indicates that it had been for sale by Agents T. Stephens and Son. The street tree is a Ficus. [General description] This row of stone and brick cottages have parapets that hide the corrugated iron roofing, and a wooden picket front fence. A group of men stand at the gate of a group of condemned cottages which display what appears to be a 'For Sale' sign. Left side is 133 yards east of West Terrace.' [General description] A priest can be seen standing inside the doorway of this newly completed church, seen in three quarter view. Outside a woman tends to a baby in a large perambulator. Designed by Woods Bagot the church was dedicated on 15 March, 1914. It was said to be inspired by the Church of the Holy Spirit in Florence and the design, based on a basilica, originally included a sacristy and dome. However a combination of insufficient funds and the outbreak of World War 1meant that the project remained unfinished.

[General description] Halifax House, established in 1885, which houses E. Overall Store on Brown Street running off Grote Street. An entrance to J. Thomas Fuel Merchant's Yard is next to a small cottage nearby. A workman on a ladder is painting the house nextdoor. Goods sold at the store include Cadbury chocolate, velvet soap and Amgoorie Tea. [On back of photograph] Acre 328. Brown Street, west side, January 15th 1926. The two storey structure adjoining Overall's store was demolished in 1952, and the buildings on the left at some earlier date. For new building completed on the site in 1954 ses B 12954. Extreme left is 70 yards south of Grote Street. Right side of two storey building on right is 27.5 yards south of Grote Street.

[General description] The Hub Motors Service Station. The business premises include a large galvanised iron roofed workshop and a smaller shop front. Petrol bowsers stand at the kerb. A sign proclaims 'Cars washed, oiled and greased. While you wait'. The business advertises Morris Cowley and Cleveland cars and Indian and B.S.A. Motor Cycles. For view of the building formerly on site see B 2260. Frontage: 22 yards.' (Another hand) 'For view of this Service Station taken in 1954, see B 13154. Covered way at rear was removed during first half of 1955.' The business was established by Walter Henry Hubbard, Managing Director of Hub Motors Ltd. It was one of five service stations that he owned in the city.
