Summary

[General description] The Adelaide High School buildings have been photographed from the opposite side of Grote Street, showing schoolboys watching workmen in the middle of the road. The whole centre of the road has been excavated, possibly for the installation of tramlines for the electric trams. [On back of photograph] 'Adelaide High School / Acres 329 and 330 / Grote Street / south side / 25 May 1911 / (See Cadastral plan for site) / Site of one story portion: near side is 9.5 yards east of Brown Street, frontage is 48 yards / Site of two story portion: near side is 71 yards east of Brown Street and frontage is 41 yards / On extreme left (behind trees) is what was formerly the Advanced School for Girls (opposite Bowen Street)'.
