[General description] A policeman is on point duty near an ornate tram pole which stands in the centre of the Pulteney/ Wakefield Street intersection, supporting a web of tram wires and traffic lights. Behind it a signal box can be seen. The buildings on this corner are soon to undergo major changes, the most prominent to be the new Bank of Adelaide building. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 297 / North west corner of Pulteney Street and Wakefield Street / 29 March 1939,/ The single storey house (behind policeman) was demolished in 1939 / For building erected on site see B 9564 / For building erected on site of 'Old Dutch" sign (to the left of the Nestle's sign) in 1939, see B 9579 / For building erected on the corner in 1940-41 see B 10931 / The Pulteney Street frontage of the building with a verandah is 16 yards / In Wakefield Street, the distance between Pulteney Street and the far side of the "Old Dutch' sign is 29 yards'.
