[General description] The Servants' Home, originally established in 1862 in Gilles Street moved to this two storey stone building in 1876. The Home provided temporary accommodation for newly arrived female immigrants, and for servants who were convalescing or temporarily unemployed. It closed about 1896. [General description] Buildings on the south eastern corner of Gawler Place and Flinders Street. On the corner stands Fred C. Segar Furniture Showroom, and next door in Flinders Street stands Mitchell's Garage and Auto Repair Service. Stotts Business College is located in the four storeys high building owned by Crompton and Sons next door. On the eastern side of Gawler Place facing north stands Mitchell Auto Repairs Service and Vivian Lewis Motor Repairs. Two young school boys are crossing the street and a lady in a summer dress and wide brimmed hat is crossing Flinders Street. [On back of photograph] Acre 272. [General description] Liverpool Building is seen from the opposite side of the road. It is a four storey brick building with concrete rendered facade in the 1920s Renaissance Revival style. [General description] A single fronted two storey building dominates this view. It is built from rendered stone with cement dressings and arched doorway and windows. It features a stepped parapet with decorative urns and the inscription "ESTb 1893". At this time it is the premises for the Adelaide Shorthand and Business Training Academy. On the left is W. Stewart, Deep Drainage and Sanitary Work Contractor, and on the right is Barnes' Modeller, which displays various cement building and garden ornaments in its window. Above its roof the spire of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church can be seen. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 272 / Flinders Street. The parapet features twin archways, one with a decorative wrought iron gate, the other with a window. H.H. Gibbs & Sons' Quick Lunch Cafe is next door. [General description] The Manse is an well proportioned two storey stone house with rendered quoins and window surrounds. The bay windows have timber shutters. It was built in 1871, eight years after the completion of the Baptist Church on the left.

This church was built in 1861 to plans by Robert Thomas who also designed the Pilgrim Church. It features a rose window and front entrance with three arches supported by pillars. Howard and Company, ladies handbag and belt manufacturers, Frank Warden, motorcycle tyre and tube specialist and the stables and garage belonging to the Globe Timber Mill, on the opposite side of the road. Prominent is an advertisement for performances by Paul Cinquevalli, a famous juggler, at Rickard's Tivoli Theatre, commencing Saturday, August 7th. In the centre is the premises of G.F. Sare [George Frederick Sare], plumber and gasfitter. Next door is Anstey and Gerard, builders and contractors, which has a horse drawn vehicle is framed in its gateway. Further advertisements for Hardy's Wines and Union Tobacco are seen. [General description] This two storey corner hotel has wide verandahs and iron lace decorated balconies along both street frontages. The roof has gables above the doorways. Decorative mirrors advertising brands of wine and beer are mounted on the wall outside. A hotel existed on this site since 1851. It underwent two name changes until 1880 when it was re-named the Oakfield Hotel, which name was retained until its demolition in 1963. The licensee in 1929 was Wilfred John Ogden. Acre 280 Flinders Street, south side. 1965. Flinders Hall was originally built as school accommodation for St Paul's Church of England and catered for mainly poor people in the congregation. They were financed by several wealthier members of St Paul's congregation. During the 1880s and 1890s the building was altered and extended, including a grand staircase. The property was sold in 1950 to Hamilton Laboratories

[General description] Two bluestone cottages in the process of being demolished in 1925. The cottages stood on the south side of Flinders Street near Daly Street.
