'Pepys Show Project' photographs

The 'Pepys Show Project' is a series of casual shots taken by John Hinds to record the happenings at 1986 Festival Events. Names, dates and places are recorded on printed cards for posterity. Photographs containing John Hinds were taken by David Morgan. Hinds describes the shots, "overall it is a joyous and nostalgic time capsule of people and dress".

Posters created by Alex Innocenti for various productions. See below for details of items. The State Library holds a collection of music, video, photographs, records, CDs/DVDs and memorabilia and ephemera which is a representation of the music industry in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. An example includes this collection of posters which were designed by Alex Innocenti, the entrepreneur behind Cellar Blues Promotions. Alex continued to create the graphics for promotion materials over an almost 30 year period. The posters are a graphic depiction of a point in time, with images of the bands and artist, painted and hand drawn in the graphic style of the day, well before the capacity to produce such promotions on a computer desk top. Some of the bands he promoted included Black Sabbath, Doug Parkinson In Focus, Cat Stevens, Daddy Cool and Billy Thorpe. Alex was also the driving force behind Adelaide's "Woodstock", the 70s music festival held at Myponga. Posters for the festival are included in this collection.

A collection of photographs by the Messenger Press taken at various business and community sites around the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide. Places include waste management sites, sports clubs, Cavan Detention Centre and street and town signs. According to brief paperwork attached to the photos, many were taken for the Standard Messenger newspaper. Where more than one date has been added to a photo, one of the dates may refer to when it was published in the newspaper.

Album of views partly of South Australia, with some photographs attributable to the photographer Captain Samuel White Sweet. Views include street scenes in Adelaide and at the Botanic Gardens, Waterfall Gully, Morialta, and Strathalbyn. Several photographs may be of Aboriginal men and women of the Point McLeay area. The album includes nineteenth century views of Melbourne, Launceston & Hobart, Brisbane and Maryborough in Queensland and other places abroad including Ceylon, Malta, New Caledonia, and New Zealand. Some of these are by the noted photographers, Horatio Agius (Malta), Poul C. Poulsen (Queensland) and Allan Hughan (New Caledonia). Memorial Hall at Prince Alfred College, Kent Town. The College Foundation Stone was laid by HRH Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, second son of Queen Victoria, during his visit to South Australia in 1867. The Memorial Hall was opened in 1928 by Governor Sir Alexander Hore-Ruthven. It was dedicated to old scholars who fell in the Great War. Contained inside is the new library which has two stained glass windows depicting the lives of the Crusaders. The building which also contains classrooms, a laboratory and dressing rooms was first occupied in 1924.

They were used by the author as a visual memoir of her childhood for her first novel 'The scent of eucalyptus', published in London later that year by Chatto & Windus. See 'Contents' for details. Soldiers are lined up along both sides of the street and mounted army and police (on their greys) are present. At this time there is a metal fence around the square which predates the later wrought iron railings. King William Street, during the arrival of the Duke of Gloucester. Royal Visit October 12, 1934. The Duke of Gloucester arrives at the Adelaide Town Hall amid huge crowds. Every vantage point has been taken, with onlookers standing on roofs. Tiered seats have been erected infront of the Town Hall and the official cars and solders on horseback can be seen stretching the length of King William Street.

World War One era badges (also known as buttons or 'tinnies') collected by the R.S.L. Most badges were designed and created to be puchased as a fundraising interest, in order to raise money for various factions of the Red Cross. Included are badges created for occasions such as Australia Day, Violet Day, Army Nurses Day, and French Day, and for charity groups including the Red Cross, the Cheer-Up Society, the R.S.A. Building Fund (Returned Soldiers' Association, which later became the R.S.L.), the Wattle Day League, Soldiers' Home, Children's Patriotic League, Nursing Society, and the Y.M.C.A., as well as official peace badges marking the end of the war and various miscellaneous badges including a Christian Endeavour convention, fundraising carnivals and memorial gardens. Also includes some button badges from the inter-war years, 1919-1938, and from the Second World War, and other metal badges from WW1 and WW2. See below for details.
