Plan of the Mount Barker Special (Mineral) Survey on section 2001, on the boundary of the Hundreds of Kanmantoo and Monarto, shown as subdivided in 1845 into 20 1,000 acre rectangular strips of land. Some of this area yielded copper from 1846 onwards. The areas selected by the South Australian Company have been coloured in green and red; those selected by the Paringa Mining Company have been left uncoloured. (Information under the green coloured areas is mostly illegible. Names of copper mines etc. on the uncoloured areas can be read.) The layout of the townships of Callington (1856), St. Ives (1856), Kanmantoo (1849) and Tavistock (1856) are shown but not named. Ink and watercolour on paper, ink notation, on canvas backing. Scale 1 inch to 20 chains. Signed at bottom right by C.B. Young, surveyor.

Water coloured, lithographed map of land sections in the County of Hindmarsh, South Australia showing townships, drainage, bridges, reserves, the area of the Mount Barker mineral survey and numbered sections with unsold sections marked. The boundaries of the hundreds with the County are shown in colours and an inset map shows the adjoining Counties of Russell and Sturt around the Murray Lakes, Hindmarsh Island and the Murray Mouth. Lake Alexandrina is shown as Lake Victoria (its change of name proposed after the accession of Queen Victoria). Archival copies indicate land and section holdings of the South Australian Company.

Cadastral map of country south of Adelaide with relief shown by hachures. Shows land sections in Section C, north of Port Noarlunga to Aldinga Bay, and eastwards to the Willunga hills part of the Mount Lofty Ranges, including the section 258 on which Willunga was settled. Also includes part of Section B on the north side, from O'Halloran Hill, and Section D on the south, to Sellicks Beach. Land sections with occupiers' names are coloured.

Portrait said to be of Samuel Stephens, Manager in Adelaide, 1836-1837. This is incorrect, as the portrait is actually of his brother John, newspaper proprietor, circa late 1830s, of the SA Register (died 1850). See image at B 5942. The collection of Managers and officials was possibly compiled ca.1930, when it was presumed this portrait was of Samuel Stephens. The newspaper in the painting is the Christian Advocate which John Stephens founded in London in 1832.
