Funeral for Paula Celigoj during Covid-19 restrictions

Funeral for Paula Celigoj during Covid-19 restrictions

During the time of Covid-19 we lost a dearly loved elderly relative, a well loved member of the Slovenian community Paula Celigoj. Due to restrictions we were only allowed 10 guests. We could not hold a wake. The church is the Slovenian Church of Adelaide. After the burial at Cheltenham Cemetery we drank a toast of Slivovitz and share Potica that I had made to hand out to the family, friends and community to honour my dear friend Paula. May her soul rest in peace. xx

I went into my workplace to collect something after having been working from home for a week and was quite startled at the new signage.

Port Elliot Bakery - Mother's Day

Port Elliot Bakery - Mother's Day

Social distancing example going into the busy Port Elliot bakery today Mother's Day. Only one person from a group could enter and only a few entered at a time. You stood on a cross and staff approached you for your order and to pay. Well organised and easy to adhere to.

Attending one of only two ANZAC ceremonies in SA - on behalf of health workers

Thanks for the ANZACs. On ANZAC day there was only two official ceremonies in all of SA. One at the REPAT. I was asked to lay a wreath on behalf of health care workers and patients, and as a single mum I brought my 3.5year old. She patiently waited for the ceremony to finish- outside of the lines (staying under 10 in the space) but had made a paper poppy for Les Brown: 99yo WW2 veteran. Reaching up to hand it to him. Photographed with the Health Minister and another amazing veteran Bill Denny watching on.

Mail from grandma and grandpa

Mail from grandma and grandpa

Excitement of a letter. Previously spending a day a week including a sleep over with her grandparents - for a 3.5 year old "the virus" stripped routine and security. It however Brought with it an experience not typical to their generation.. mail- real stamped and letter box delivered, hand crafted mail. The anticipation of checking the box, the disappointment on it being empty and the delight when it had content.. that may have in fact been for her.. and was.. a letter from Grandma and Grandpa.

Social distancing

Social distancing

See-saw social distancing. At 89 and 3.5 years old my daughter and her great grandma spent their last catch up for months perfectly social distanced on the see-saw 89 and on a see-saw: isn't Hilary amazing?

A quiet day on Glenelg North Beach. Previously there had been many walkers on the beach. Perhaps the easing of restrictions enticed people elsewhere.

Even at the Beach

Even at the Beach

I think this was the day it hit home to me that we could be vulnerable everywhere. For once on my daily walk I was more worried about the sign on the right than the one on the left of the path to the beach.
