Geoffrey Bishop

Studio portrait of Geoff Bishop, son of Joseph and Ethela Bishop, in his military uniform before embarking for active service in Europe during World War One. Driver Geoffrey Howard Bishop, no. 31521, enlisted on 18 September 1916, aged 28, and was assigned to the 7th Australian Field Artillery Brigade, 107th Howitzer Battery. He saw active service in Frace, and died of pneumonia on 21 November 1917.

Lanyard for Hejaz Order of the Nahda, 4th Class

Lanyard made from plaited cotton thread in three colours: black, white, and green, designed to hold the Hedjaz Order of Nahda, 4th Class medal. This medal was awarded to Captain Ross Smith, No.1 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps, on 1 April 1920 for 'Conspicuous services rendered whilst serving with the Australian Imperial Force'. The Order was established to commemorate the revolt of the Hejaz against the Turks during the First World War.
