73 World War 1 era badges (also known as campaign buttons or 'tinnies') collected by Alan David and Winifred Smith Greenlees, when they were living in Broken Hill. Most badges were designed and created to be purchased as a fundraising interest, in order to raise money for various factions of the Red Cross, and most were manufactured by Alfred E.S. Stokes in Australia 'Manufacturer of Photographic reproduction, coloured Patriotic, Carnival, Campaign Buttons, etc. 228 Pitt Street, Sydney'. Several of this group of items were designed for other charity groups such as the Returned Services League (RSL), the Florence Nightingale Fund, the Army Nurses Day, the Civilian TB & Cancer Fund, the Navy Day, the Wattle League, the Lord Mayor's Japanese Relief Fund and other ventures.

Portrait photograph of Lloyd Kay Bromley in military uniform. He was recruited to 2/14 Field Regiment (artillery) in Adelaide during World War II, later serving in New Guinea where he was injured (lost an eye) before returning to run an internment camp for Italian POWs in Queensland. He was promoted to Lieutenant by 1943. He worked as an actuary for the AMP Society as his father had done, and moved to Sydney after his marriage to Katherine Anne Corbin in 1950.

Bromley siblings

Bromley siblings

Portrait photograph (and early colour print) of the Bromley siblings L-R: John Edward Kay Bromley, Lloyd Kay Bromley and Nancy Bromley. They are the children of Frederick and Beatrice Bromley (nee Chudleigh), and lived at 21 Myall Avenue, Kensington Gardens. John Bromley (1921-1971) became a teacher and served in the RAAF in World War II, and committed suicide. Lloyd Bromley (1919-2007) attended St. Peter's School and worked as an actuary for the AMP Society, including in Sydney where his children were born. He served in the Army during World War II, and married Katherine Anne (Sue) Corbin in 1950, who was the daughter of John and Margaret Corbin of 62 Brougham Place, North Adelaide. Nancy Bromley (1923-1976) was educated at Girton School, but was admitted to Parkside Mental Hospital in 1950 where she remained for the remainder of her life. It is understood that she suffered from schizophrenia.

They married at Christ Church, North Adelaide. She wore the same dress as her mother, sister, and daughter. She is the daughter of John and Margaret Corbin of Brougham Place, North Adelaide. She later qualified as a solicitor in Adelaide, and later practised in Sydney.
