Myers Street, Adelaide, east side, on May 28th, 1925. A row of cottages is in process of demolition. Demolition was completed in June 1925, and the cottages were replaced by the rear portion of Ross' Motor Bodies works, which also occupied the street in front of the cottages. For a view of the Gilbert Street frontage of the new building, see B 3451. The near side of the cottages is 72 yards south of Sturt Street and their far side is 35 yards north of Gilbert Street.

The library at his Upper Sturt estate, Manoah grew to be one of the best in the country. It consisted of ten thousand volumes, a quarter of which were legal books. Early cottage thought to be near Blackwood

BLACKWOOD: An early cottage originally thought to be near Blackwood. A researcher suggests that this could be Winn's Bakery on the banks of the Sturt Creek in Coromandel Valley but another researcher has provided the information that it is a photo of a house called Chamberlea in Chambers Gully built around 1837 by brothers James, John and Benjamin Chambers. The same photo is on page 49 in a book called Colonial Dynasty: the Chambers family of South Australia by Margaret Goyder Kerr - https://www.catalog.slsa.sa.gov.au/record=b1011981~S1

'Glenberry' a property at Hawthorndene

HAWTHORNDENE: 'Glenberry' a property of 89 acres originally owned by James Bartlett, M.P. and later by the Wescombe family; it was situated alongside Upper Sturt Road, Rankeys Hill Road and Turners Avenue, eventually sold, subdivided and became part of Hawthorndene. David Unaipon, who would walk from Reynella to Adelaide, used to call for water and a chat.
