Sturt Street, south side, west corner of Hamley Street, December 23rd 1931. The shop was erected in 1931 on a site where a blue stone cottage originally stood. See B 6057. The shop is called the West Adelaide Ham and Beef Shop and sells Amscol milk, ice cream, pies and pasties, tobacco and dressed poultry.

[General description] This modern brick iron-roofed cottage is very plain in style typical of the Second World War period and has a cyclone wire front fence and gate. It replaces a Victorian era stone cottage. Other older cottages are on either side. Sturt Street, south side, September 28th 1953, right side of light coloured building with the high doorway is 31 1/4 yards east of Norman Street and the frontage is 12 yards. Light coloured building erected c.1951. The building immediately adjoining the right side of the building with tall doorway was remodelled and incorporated in new structure shown in B 12924. Buildings behind galvanised fence were demolished. For structure erected on site see also B 12924 and B 12923. These alterations were made between September 1953 and January 1954. The signs on the partly demolished corner shop shows it was a milk depot and grocery store

Smith and Company's new premises have replaced an old cottage, two of which still survive on the left. Next door is Tangye's motor engineering firm. The far side of the cottages on the left is 35 yards west of King William Street. The left side of Hubbards is 58 yards and the right side is 86 yards west of King William Street.
