PORTRAIT: Elizabeth Holden (nee Mason) from a miniature on ivory. Elizabeth was the mother of Thomas Alexander Holden who started the J. A. Holden & Co. business which led to GM Holden Ltd. She was also Dame Nancy Buttfield's great great grandmother. Elizabeth married Edward Holden in 1820. Edward was born 14 April 1796, at Walsall, England.

Pencil sketch on paper portraying Captain Charles Sturt. Montefiore was a friend of Sturt and made an original sketch in 1849. It is believed this artwork is a copy of that original sketch, which was used in an obituary to commemorate Sturt, after his death in 1869.

Portrait of the Right Reverend Dr. John Flynn who set up the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Identified in bottom right corner as 'Right Rev. Dr. John Flynn / O.B.E., D.D.' In the bottom left corner is 'Copy - Sidney Riley, Brisbane'. The inscriptions suggest that the artwork was commissioned for hanging, and could well be a retrospective painting (certainly later than 1933 when Flynn was awarded the Order of the British Empire).

According to a family researcher, the woman is Mary Burford (nee Richardson), born 1845 and died 1921. She was the wife of William Burford (see portrait B 56297) and mother of the artist Frederick Rumsey Burford.
