Although titled 'Glen in the Barossa Range' this image is actually a copy of the original watercolour 'Waterplace, Depot Creek, Augst. 27th' by Gill of the John Horrocks 1846 expedition held in the National Library of Australia. The 'South Australian Historical Pictures Index' provides the information that 'Glen in the Barossa Range' was the title attributed to it by the National Library of Australia.

North Terrace
North Terrace, looking east from a point a little west of Morphett Street. Trinity Church on the right. The original art work by S.T. Gill is in the S.A. Art Gallery. The foundation stone for Holy Trinity Church was laid by Governor Hindmarsh on 26 January 1838 but when the building was finished it was considered to be unsafe and the church was rebuilt and enlarged. The clock in the tower was installed in 1838 and was intended for use as the town clock. Holy Trinity Church was the first Anglican church in South Australia and the tower was the first to be built in Adelaide. The art work depicts families strolling on north Terrace making their way to church. A man is walking his dog. Only a few houses have been built up to this date.

King William Street, Adelaide
[General description] A lively street scene at the intersection of King William and Hindley Streets, looking north towards Government House where the flagstaff can be seen. Various characters of all walks of life go about their business. Men are unloading sacks from a dray whilst a smart carriage drives by. A woman with a goat cart can be seen on the right. King William Street
North corner of King William and Rundle Street. The newly opened draper's shop owned by Brewer and Robertson was advertising its wares in the Register on 3 October 1849. A glass door had a beehive motif portrayed in gold leaf. Since then the corner has been known as Beehive Corner and is a meeting place. In this sketch by ST Gill shoppers, militia, horses and carriages are gathering under a large beehive on the roof of the draper's shop.
