SOUTH AFRICAN WAR MEMORIAL: Unveiling ceremony for the South African War Memorial monument in North Terrace, Adelaide; the statue is draped in flags and a platform has been erected by it to accommodate Sir George Le Hunte, Governor of South Australia, members of the National Memorial Executive Committee, and invited guests, officers and men who had fought in South Africa stand in front of the platform with a very large crowd of the general public behind them and watching from balconies and parapets of surrounding buildings.

A large banner made and carried by the Kaurna Plains School has the design of a boomerang superimposed over the Aboriginal flag with the words "From Past to our Future". The young men at front left are carrying a large recepticle with fire. The rally began at Tarndanyangga (Victoria Square) and the march ended in Elder Park. The event celebrated the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Referendum.
