Victor Harbor, Crown Hotel on the right. The two storey stone building on the right is surrounded by waste land. Opposite stands the Victor Harbour Hotel which existed from 1863 and was sometimes identified as Port Victor Hotel. The Crown Inn existed from 1865 and was also known as The Crown or Crown Hotel.

The photograph was taken in May 1878 and shows the tramway shed and the timberyard. [On back of photograph] Victor Harbour May 1878. See "Advertiser" 2 July, 1925. The ships in the bay waiting to load wool are the Queen of Nations, the Lady Douglas, the Glenaras and the Decapolis.

Police Station, Police Point, Victor Harbor. Note on the back of the photograph state "The part on the right said to have been built 1838-40. Demolished (whole building) in 1912. In use as a police station at the time. Putting green was on the site in 1932". Police Point was the point of land leading to the Causeway at Victor Harbour on which stood the Police Station from 1840. It was eventually demolished in 1912. In 1863 the Alexandra Bridge and the Hindmarsh Bridge over the Inman River were opened thus giving easier access to Police Point and aiding settlement.
