Photograph of a De Havilland (DH-6) aircraft which landed on top of Granite Island with pilot Lieut. Frank Willmott standing on top of the fuselage, and a crowd of people looking on. The Bluff is in view across the harbor. A newspaper article in the 'Victor Harbor Times and Encounter Bay and Lower Murrray Pilot' on 25 March 1921 reported that "The Willmott Gardner Aviation Company will be sending their De Havilland Biplane down to the Harbor this week end and will conduct passenger flights ... We understand that the machine will land at Encounter Bay in Mr. A.H. Warland's paddock (the same place that Capt. McNamara landed when here on the War Loan Campaign.)" Lieut. Willmott A.F.C., accompanied by Lieut. Morey R.A.F., was the first pilot to land a plane on Granite Island. This unique event was witnessed on Saturday 26 March 1921.

A young boy sitting in the window of the ruins of the 'Old Mill' at Victor Harbor. Note attached to lantern slide: 'Mill, Port Victor'. The 'Old Mill' at Encounter Bay, Victor Harbor, a tower stone windmill built by Porter Helmore in 1851 on sandhills near the Inman River. The machinery and cogs of the mill were made of wood. The mill was wrecked by a cyclone and closed down in 1853. The mill is still standing and has been converted into a private residence in Gibson Street, Victor Harbor.

The Mayor W.W. Jenkins and Mrs. Jenkins are standing on a platform on the left near Bell's menswear and hardware stores (Ryan, proprietor). The Mount Breckan tower is on the skyline, with the the Seymour guest house directly below it in the centre background (now demolished). The verandah of the Grosvenor Hotel is at the right.

View of Victor Harbor from Granite Island. Granite Island was also known as Nulcoowarra by the Ramindjeri people. Horsedrawn trams commenced travelling along the jetty from 1862. Broad gauge track was first laid from the mainland to the island in 1875. The first double decker passenger service began in 1894. The screwpile jetty was finished in 1882 and thus expanded Victor Harbor's capacity as a seaport. The iron piles were screwed into the limestone seabed. A branch on the jetty contained a safe fenced swimming area.

Newland Memorial Congregational Church, Victor Harbor. Newland Memorial Congregational Church, Victor Harbor. This original church was built in 1868 and was named in honour of the Reverend Ridgeway Newland who arrived in Encounter Bay with 34 settlers. After a fatal carriage accident Reverend Ridgeway Newland was buried beneath the pulpit in his chapel. His remains were later removed to the Victor Harbor cemetery. A new church was built in 1927 and the old church became the church hall. This photograph shows the new church which was built in 1927. It cost eight thousand and two hundred pounds to build and was opened by Sir Henry Newland, grandson of the original pastor

Veteran Cars at Victor Harbor. 'Early Motoring Portraits' has a page showing the family of A.J.Humberstone of Victor Harbor in a 1903 8 hp single cylinder Darracq. The 1907 12hp two cylinder Darracq (shown) replaced the earlier car. The other car is Humberstone's who owned the one above. The Car with plate No. 71 is a 12hp two cylinder Darracq, owned by A J Humberstone of Victor Harbor.
