[General description] The 'Acacias' viewed from its wide gravel driveway with several people, probably family members, posed in various attitudes on its front verandah. Some are holding tennis racquets. Perhaps the gentleman with the top hat is Sir Edwin? There is a fountain in front of the house and formal gardens are in the process of being laid out. Chancel, St. John's Church, Morialta. In 1928 two stained glass windows were added to the Church in memory of the founders of the church the Hon. John Baker and his wife. The money was bequeathed by their daughter Miss Isabel Baker who died in England. Isabel worked tirelessly for the church by establishing the Sunday School and raising funds to build a school house.

Morphettville Race Course and grandstand. Sir Thomas Elder funded the South Australian Jockey Club to enable it to own its own freehold property of 160 acres at Morphettville. The first meeting was held at these premises in 1876. In 1889 the first Adelaide Cup to be run at Morphettville and was won by "The Lawyer" . The previous Adelaide Cup race was run at Flemington and then abandoned for four years

[General description] J. Dunn & Co's Flour Mill at Mount Barker. Men and boys pose for the camera amongst horsedrawn and bullock wagons loading and unloading wheat sacks. A boiler and chimney are seen on the right with a woodpile for fuel.

Residence of John Dunn, Sen., Mt. Barker. The Dunns owned flour mills in the new colony. A note on the back of the photograph reads :"extract from a letter from the District Clerk, District Council of Mount Barker (Oct.17, 1941) ...the house...is now owned by Mr. HR Walsh of the Oriental Hotel, Adelaide, and is occupied by his son Mr J Walsh. The house in question is situated on part of section 4478, Hundred of Macclesfield, and is practically the same as the photograph, the only alterations being that a balcony has been placed around it, and the lower window on the left hand side of the photograph has been converted into a bay window".

[General description] A neat farm is nestled into the crater next to the Lake. It is probably the original forestry nursery, established in the 1870s, where many tree species were trialled with the aim of establishing plantations in the area. Sparsely treed hills form a backdrop. Compare with B 7837 for a view taken in the 1920s. [On back of photograph] 'Mount Gambier: Leg of Mutton Lake / Probably in the eighteen eighties.'

[General description] A view looking across the lake to the steep banks on the opposite side. It is one of the four crater lakes of Mount Gambier, famous for its blue colour. From December to March, the lake turns to a vibrant cobalt blue, returning to a colder steel grey from April to November.
