Kapunda Institute in Hill Street. The foundation stone was laid by Premier John Hart on 12 October 1870 and the building was constructed in several stages. The first stage, comprising basement and ground floor meeting rooms was completed in 1871. The main hall was completed in 1874 and additions, including the second floor, were made between 1919 and 1929.

It appears to be a special occasion - there is a large wreath, a number of boys in uniform (two holding rifles), several of the children are holding posters, and all appear to be wearing their Sunday best.
