A collection of photographs and colour photocopies of commercial premises, buildings and streets in and around the City of Adelaide (in two volumes), including artists' impressions and designs for redevelopment. Includes some designs for the Remm Group Myer Centre development, with artist's impressions of the interior. The album comprises photographs collected by Messenger Press, many of which have been published in the various suburban editions of the paper. Copper ore samples and parcels of ore

'Pepys Show Project' photographs
The 'Pepys Show Project' is a series of casual shots taken by John Hinds to record the happenings at 1986 Festival Events. Names, dates and places are recorded on printed cards for posterity. Photographs containing John Hinds were taken by David Morgan. Hinds describes the shots, "overall it is a joyous and nostalgic time capsule of people and dress".

Hawkes Family photograph album
Album of the Hawkes Family, possibly containing photographs of Hawkes, Stebbing and Whittington families, and English relatives and siblings of Henry Hawkes and Francis William Hawkes, who married Mary Jane Whittington. The donor, Clifford Henry Hawkes, born 1898, indicated that the album belonged to his grandfather, Henry Hawkes. The album includes a one page family tree of Clifford Hawkes, compiled by the State Library, photographs of the original album (which has not been retained), several in memoriam cards (photos 56-59), and two Children's League certificates, belonging to Clifford Hawkes and Harold Hawkes. Most photographs are un-captioned, and a small selection have been digitised. The album is an interesting source of examples of carte-de visite and cabinet print portrait photography, along with one tintype photograph, by studios in Adelaide in the nineteenth century. Aerial views of the city of Adelaide City, especially around North Terrace. Several photographs feature the Palais de Danse on the River Torrens. Views include the University of Adelaide, Museum, Kintore Avenue, Royal Adelaide Hospital, Railway Station and Government House.

Photograph albums kept by the Scammell family
Two photograph albums kept by the Scammell family. Many carte-de-visites of people were taken in England or in South Australia but are unnamed. A collection of CDVs of the British Royal family begins the second album. Album 1 ends at photograph 40; album 2 begins at number 41 and ends at 153. James Allen
James Allen was a chemist. His chemist shop stood on the corner of Hindley and Morphett Streets. The Hindley Street pharmacist, James Allen (1815-1881), who bought seven acres of land in Thomas Street, Unley in 1851 established there a kitchen garden devoted to the 'useful', and noted in his diary in October 1852, 'Bees swarmed'. In April 1854 he noted, 'Have at length got some honey from the Bees, I suppose about Twenty Pounds' [nearly 10kg]. By early 1856 he had attended Horticultural Society meetings; had a thatched and lime washed bee house built, made an 'unsatisfactory' stand for his bee hives, and also 'put [?mud] mortar on the bee shed'." [From Bridget Jolly's paper 'First flights in South Australia's systematic beekeeping and honey harvesting'.

West Terrace, east side, corner of Hindley street,north side. 21 December 1962, Hindley Street frontage of service station is 33 yards and West Terrace frontage is 25 yards. The Mobilgas Service Station also offers new batteries, motor repairs, tune ups and "expert holiday checks".

1956 Melbourne Olympic Games motion picture
Two athletes arrive at Wests Theatre, Hindley Street, Adelaide, carrying movie cans labelled "Official Olympic Games Film in colour. Rush to Wests Theatre Adelaide". The film had its Adelaide gala premier at Wests Theatre, Hindley Street, Adelaide, on 9 May 1957.

A mixture of glass plate negatives and acetate negatives, many believed to have been taken by George Reeves. A diary 'The Welcome Photographic Exposure Record and diary, 1912' which was used to record details of exposures; and a leaflet 'How to use Velox' can be found at D 8602(Misc).

Photographs of W.A. Robjohns
The series comprises 15 albums housing 1,973 photographs, most of which were taken by photographer W.A. Robjohns ca.1920-1966. Album covers were numbered and labelled by Robjohns. The sequence is incomplete, however, as only volumes 1-9, 12-14, 15, 20 and 23 have been donated. Robjohns' brief descriptions of content on the covers and spines are incomplete. For further descriptions of place names and subjects contained in each album, SEE details below. The albums contain small black and white prints, mostly undated, with captions by W.R. Robjohns. Also sepia and postcard prints, and a few hand-tinted prints. A small number of images were taken by other photographers, several of whom have been identified by Robjohns. Images depict Adelaide suburbs, city scenes and country towns, with an emphasis on rural landscapes, parks and reserves, rivers, reservoirs, streets, houses, churches, businesses and shop fronts, and public celebrations and processions. Also included are images of the Robjohns family on picnics and holiday outings, and their homes, cars and pets. A number of photos were duplicated or enlarged by Robjohns and appear in more than one album.
