Historical information

No. 5364 Private Stanley Gers, born in Adelaide, South Australia, son of Martha Gers, worked as a miner before he enlisted with the AIF on 14 February 1916 at the age of 33. He served with the 10th Battalion, 17th Reinforcement, and embarked with his unit from Adelaide on board the HMAT A60 'Aeneas' on 11 April 1916. He served in France and returned to Australia on 19 October 1917, as he was medically unfit.
