The iron ship 'Scottish Moors', 2400 tons, under sail. This photograph has been identified by a grandson as being taken by Mr A. Wilson in Hobart ca.1910, with Droughty Point on the left and Gellibrand Point to the rear right.

Sold Norway during WW1 and converted into auxiliary twin screw motor vessel, with rig of 4 mast schoone. Dismasted after the war in bad weather and condemned, renamed 'Svaland' by Norwegians].

The iron ship 'Scottish Isles', 2046 tons, anchored in an unidentified port [iron ship, 2046 tons, ON87821, 269.0 x 41.6 x 24.3. Built 1883 (3) T Royden and Sons. Liverpool. Owners: WH Ross and Co., registered Liverpool then George Windram and Sons, registered Liverpool. Sold c.1911 for use as coal hulk at Gibraltar]. According to a researcher, Captain Francis Stone was at one time master of this ship [see 'Sea Breezes' magazine, March 1928.]

Was on a voyage from Wallaroo to England with wheat].

The iron ship 'City of Perth', 1189 tons, at Port Chalmers. [iron ship, 1247 tons, ON60352, 232.5 x 35.4 x 22.2. Built 1868 (5) C. Connell and Co. Glasgow. Owners George Smith and Sons. Registered Glasgow, renamed Turakina in 1882 by the New Zealand Shipping Co. Ltd. Registered Lyttelton, register tansferred to London in 1888 and vessel sold in 1899 to Norwegians and renamed Elida and rigged as barque. Stranded at Timaru, NZ, when named City of Perth in May 1882, salvaged and returned to England for full repairs, and sold to New Zealand Shipping and renamed. Remained in New Zealand trade until sold in 1899. Made a famous run of about 14 days in company with and sometimes outdistancing the same owner's steamer Ruapehu in the southern Indian Ocean.]
