Summary

The iron ship 'Scottish Moors', 2400 tons, under sail [iron ship, 2400 tons, ON97744, 300.0 x 42.0 x 24.4. Built 1890 (2) Richardson, Duck and Co., Stockton. Owners: WH Ross and Co., registered Liverpool; then George Windram and Sons, registered Liverpool. Sold Norway during WW1 and converted into auxiliary twin screw motor vessel, with rig of 4 mast schoone. Dismasted after the war in bad weather and condemned, renamed 'Svaland' by Norwegians].

One of the ships owned by G. Windram and Co., Liverpool.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
