The P.S. Ruby (built in 1907 and currently based in Wentworth) at the Renmark wharf. The structure at the top of the wharf is a building which housed the shipping agents. It replaced a collection of cubicles which had served the same purpose

'Echuca wharf, by 1870 it had become the most important river port on the River Murray. Wool was brought down the NSW river system to the railhead at Echuca, then on to Melbourne for the clipper fleet to Europe. This wharf enabled boats to be handled at almost any river height.'
