The Brocas, Woodville

'The Brocas', built by John Newman in 1840, is one of the best grand country residences of Adelaide, and is listed by the National Trust. This view shows a meet of the Adelaide Hunt Club on August 15th, 1870, soon after the completion of extensive renovations to the house. From left to right are: J. Newman [standing, holding his top hat], G. Dormer [the only lady riding, in a side-saddle], S. Ferry, A.J. Baker, H.E. Downer [the Master], F. Bonnin, F. Drew, R.F. Moore, C. Colley, P. Auld, W. Pope and H. Trew. Hounds are grouped in the foreground.
