Collection of several hundred 3" x 4" glass plates negatives taken around Adelaide by Theo Bachmann ca.1915-1950. Originally housed in labelled sleeves with an index, they feature the Bachmann and Plunket families, as well as more general scenes. The original envelope number is shown in square brackets after the description of each image, and can be cross-referenced to the index (see B 71826/656. Images 101-200 feature family picnics, The Botanic Gardens, views around Belair and Waterfall Gully, and scenes around the suburbs.

Framed collection of World War I badges
A collection of 477 war buttons and regimental badges collected and arranged by members of the Symon family, framed behind glass and with a metal plate on the bottom of the frame inscribed: "Presented by Lieutenant Commander Oliver Symon in memory of Sir Josiah Symon, KCMG, KC" [his father]. The buttons and Armed Forces badges were issued to raise funds from non-government sources, such as badge days for the Cheer Up Society, Australian Comforts Fund and Australia Day, during World War I. The framed collection was hung in the Upper Sturt Hall near the Symon residence "Manoah" and later came to the Mount Lofty Historical Society, which presented it to the Mortlock Library of South Australiana in 1993. The Advertiser reported, 17 December 1936 page 30: 'A fete to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of the Upper Sturt Soldiers' Memorial Hall, was held at Upper Sturt on Saturday. The financial return was satisfactory. The opening ceremony was performed by Lieutenant-Commander Oliver Symon, who also presented to the hall a fine souvenir panel of war buttons and regimental badges. The afternoon was spent in sports and games for the children, afternoon tea being served. Among those present were Lady Symon, Miss K. Symon and Miss Lewers. Mr C. Wylie, chairman of the hall committee, presided. A dance followed in the evening, when the hall was filled, to capacity.' A researcher has provided additional information about the Symon badge board: 'The Upper Sturt Soldiers Memorial Hall Committee minutes of 24 November 1936 recorded the offer of the significant gift under the heading 'Memorial Tablet': 'The Chairman read a letter from Mr O. Symon offering to present to the Hall a framed collection of buttons & badges struck during the Great War. The Tablet was inspected. 'Proposed A. Petersen, Sec., H. Slater that the panel be accepted and that high appreciation of the valuable gift be recorded. Carried with Acclamation.' The original badge board hung in the Upper Sturt Soldiers Memorial Hall from 1936 until the mid-1980s when vandals broke the glass covering the board and stole a number of badges. The board was then loaned to the Mount Lofty Districts Historical Society for safe-keeping. In 1993 they passed it on to the Mortlock Library of South Australiana where it now resides and is being preserved and conserved as part of the heritage of South Australia. A full-scale photograph of the original badge board, clearly showing the gaps where badges were stolen, was hung back in place in June 2013 by the present Upper Sturt Soldiers Memorial Hall committee, with much pride, to showcase this significant piece of Upper Sturt heritage.

Photographs of river shipping and places
Photographs from Harry Godson's collection, some which had been assigned his catalogue numbers but were not included in earlier digitised series 1-4. A few have been donated since his death, to be added to his collection. Included are transparencies of aerial views of 1974 flood along River Murray, photographer unknown (Godson ref: 'Index 59'). Images 366-400 are the first in sequence, followed by images 322-352.

Football crowd at Adelaide Oval
A section of the crowd attending a football match between Sturt and North held at Adelaide Oval. With scoreboard showing - Sturt 1 behind and North 3 behinds. A researcher has provided the following information: 'I presume the year would be 1919 not 1918. The SA Football League cancelled matches during the war years 1916-1918. A Patriotic Football Association was formed but Sturt did not enter a team and games were not played at Adelaide Oval. In 1919 Sturt and North played in the Grand Final on 28 September at Adelaide Oval attended by 30,000 spectators. It was a draw and was then replayed on Wed 8 October (8 Hour Day holiday) with 35000 spectators.' A further researcher provided the following information: 'Going by the match description North were 3 behinds to 1 behind, until late in the first quarter when Sturt scored another behind to leave scores at 0-3 to 0-2 at quarter time. The match started at 3.00pm so the clock on the scoreboard showing 3.20pm makes sense.'

Centenary football guernsey
Replica of the style of guernsey worn by Norwood 100 years ago. This particular guernsey was worn by Danny Morton in the SANFL football match against Sturt on Friday 4 May 2001 at the Norwood Oval as part of the oval's centenary celebration.
Depot Tree
Sturt's Depot Tree, Fort Grey Depot, Pinnaroo Lake, in the far west of New South Wales. In July 1845 Sturt's central expedition was facing an uncertain future. Sturt established a second base camp calling it Fort Grey in honour of the Governor of South Australia. Sturt made three forays from Fort Grey.
James Poole's grave
Card bearing the title 'Early exploration' which commemorates the death of James Poole, second in command of Sturt's Expedition [incorrectly identified as John Poole]. The card bears photographs of both the grave and the cairn on the grave (the latter bearing the inscription 'To the memory of John Poole second in command of Sturt's exploring party died here on 16th July 1845', and explanatory text. The grave is near Milparinka, New South Wales. Notes on the back of the card read: 'The inscription is wrong. Poole's Christian name was James. See Sturt's book ("Narrative of an expedition into Central Australia") vol. 1, p 46 and Colonial Secretary's Office docket 897 of 1844. Inscription corrected by E.B. Dow in Dec. 1935 (photo elsewhere). For rough plan showing site see newspaper cuttings, v. 2, p.37. Monument said by C. Bartlett, of Mount Sturt Station, to have been erected by Alex. Lang of Mount Poole Station. Lang succeeded McBride as owner of the station. (In the letter press on the other side the Depot Glen Station referred to is evidently the Mt Poole Station.)' A collection of mounted photographs relating primarily to exploration and maritime topics in South Australia and the Northern Territory, together with a small collection of portraits of people associated with the Royal Geographical Society. Two group portraits of Aboriginal people, from Port Lincoln and from Kopperamanna are included (photographs 9 and 15). Photographs 67-70 relate to the Flinders Centenary 1902.
