Laying of the foundation stone ceremony for the first soldier's War Service home in South Australia, at Castle Avenue, Prospect. The foundation stone was laid by Sir Denison Samuel King Miller, Governor of the Commonwealth Bank. Also in the photo is John Kirkpatrick, the Commonwealth Bank Architect. (Denison Miller and John Kirkpatrick were cousins.) People are standing around a small platform, over which flags are flying. The foundation stone is suspended from a chain.
