A collection of 329 photographs of people, events and places on the Eyre Peninsula and west coast of South Australia. Places include Port Lincoln, Boston Bay, Kirton Point, Proper Bay, Warner, Myalpa Beach, Tod River, Lake Hamilton, Sleaford Bay, Woolshed Cave, Talia, Streaky Bay, Back Beach, Ceduna, Koonibba, Point Sinclair, Port Le Hunte, Penong, Kooringibbie Well. The album contains photographs documenting the Back to Port Lincoln Carnival celebrations, 7-14 February 1930; photographs taken at Ceduna of the Western Australian Centenary Air Race 1929 (also known as the East- West Air Race); the refuelling stop at Ceduna of the inaugural flight of Air Mail services between Adelaide and Perth 1929 and the 130th Anniversary of the Landing of Matthew Flinders at Boston Bay, 26 February 1932. A number of sailing ships and motor vessels visiting Boston Bay between 1929 and 1933 were photographed, among them SS Melbourne, Olive Bank, Hougomont, Viking, MV Phasianella, Minnipa, King Stephen, Moonta, Rhymney, L'Avenir, Grootekerk and the new aircraft carrier HMAS Albatross which was first commissioned in 1929. The photographs include some interesting images of farming and transportation on the far west coast of South Australia, and show glimpses of the lives of Aboriginal people at that time at Poonindie Mission, Koonibba Mission, Fowler's Bay and Ceduna region. The photographs in this collection were taken by E. F. Derbyshire during the years 1929-1933, when he as a commercial traveller for Clarkson Limited of Adelaide, suppliers of builders' tools and hardware. Papers of George Fife Angas, philanthropist and a founder of South Australia, comprising letters and correspondence, newspaper cuttings, printed material, indentures, documents concerning emigration from Hamburg, silhouette, portrait miniature of Mrs Rosetta Angas, plans, will, bookplate, notice of dissolution of partnership, drafts of bills, addresses from electors. Includes papers relating to the South Australian Company and New Zealand (Series 28 and 58). Others are letters and other papers relating to the trustee management of the estate of Caleb Angas in England (series 63-80), mostly to Jonathan Angus of Newcastle, one of the trustees. Series 63-64 are letters written by G.F. Angas. There are transcripts of selected letters in series 1. Also includes: early Angas family letters, family genealogy documents and index (series 81, 93-94); letters relating to business activities in Honduras (series 82); draft of the first report of the South Australian Company 1836 (series 83); copy of the South Australian Company Deed of Settlement (series 84); portfolio relating the the foundation of the Union Bank of Australia (series 85); George Fife Angas' 'great journey on horseback' diary of 1846-1847 (series 86); correspondence relating to early South Australia (series 87); business papers of George Fife Angas in South Australia, 1846-1857, 1865, 1874-1879 (series 88, 91-92); interest roll for 1862 (series 89); Tarrawatta inventory 1864 (series 90); copy of the will of Caleb Angas (series 95); and two wooden trunks which previously housed items from series 81-95, along with PRG 175/8-20 and BRG 385 (series 96).

South Australian Company: John Stephens

Portrait said to be of Samuel Stephens, Manager in Adelaide, 1836-1837. This is incorrect, as the portrait is actually of his brother John, newspaper proprietor, circa late 1830s, of the SA Register (died 1850). See image at B 5942. The collection of Managers and officials was possibly compiled ca.1930, when it was presumed this portrait was of Samuel Stephens. The newspaper in the painting is the Christian Advocate which John Stephens founded in London in 1832.

Collection of photographs of Presbyterian Church buildings activities and people. Items 211- 216 are all portraits from the John Knox Church, William Street, Morphett Vale. This church, which became a Free Kirk in 1857-58, was originally call Brodie's Church, and then Anderson's Church. The Continuing Presbyterian Church took on responsibility for the building in 1977.
