Development of Adelaide 1839-1914: series of lantern slides.
Series of 102 black and white lantern slides numbered 40-145, illustrating the development of Adelaide, 1839-1914. Some slides are of maps, lithographs and sketches made by nineteenth century artists and lithographers. The series juxtaposes views of Adelaide buildings and streets and key landmarks at several time periods, to show the changes and developments in Adelaide to 1914. The streets in focus in this series include King William Street, North Terrace, Stephen's Place, Rundle Street, Hindley Street, Pulteney Street, Grenfell Street, Pirie Street, Gouger Street, Gawler Place and Hindmarsh Square. The following slides are not held: 1-39, 63, 67, 81, 128.

Allen family album
An ornate leatherwork album of 42 photographic portraits of Allen family members plus some of early Adelaide buildings. The family photographs were taken in Adelaide, Toowoomba and Christchurch (and possibly other places). The family portraits have not been digitised because most have no identification, but two of Adelaide buildings can be viewed online.

World War One album of active service in the Middle East
Album of First World War photographs of Australian Light Horse camps in the Middle East, troops visisting cities, war graves and Australian soldiers. On the inside back cover of the album is a newspaper cutting of a poem 'The ANZAC Horse' by Captain W.F. Templeton of the 4th Royal Scots Fusiliers, who met the 10th Light Horse in the Sinai Dessert during the First World War. Selected images have been digitised. See below for details.

A large-format nineteenth-century gelatin silver studio portrait photograph of a Chinese man standing next to a bicycle, with both hands on the handlebar. He is smartly attired in a three-piece suit, hat, and cycling gaiters. The photograph is on its original mount, blindstamped 'Bond & Co., Adelaide'; they were active in Rundle Street from 1890 (Davis and Stanbury). Written in pencil on the verso is 'Fong 91', suggesting both the name of the subject and the year the photograph was taken - all of a piece of the image itself. [Possibly L.C. Fong of the Chinese Empire Reform Association.]
World War 1 era fundraising button badges
22 World War 1 era badges, and two World War 2 era badges, (also known as campaign buttons or 'tinnies') donated by a member to the South Australian branch of the RSL. Most badges were designed and created to be purchased as a fundraising interest, in order to raise money for various factions of the Red Cross. Included are badges created for occasions such as Australia Day, Wattle Day and Violet Day, as well as badges designed for charity groups including the Red Cross, the Cheer-Up Society and the R.S.A. (Returned Soldiers' Association, which later became the R.S.L.). See below for details.

Photos from Cooke Plains Hall
A collection of photographs of early residents of Cooke Plains, including the Cooke Brothers and MacFarlanes, the 1972 Cooke Plains Hall Jubilee group photographs (with captions), and creation of the roller as a Jubilee project in 1986. Also includes a handwritten map identifying the locations and names of landholders and buildings in the area, plus several cuttings of 'Pastoral Pioneers'. One photograph shows the early Henders Steam Tractor in use. The Hall building has recently (2010) been sold.

The photographic composite (mosaic) B 8235/1 holds 708 portraits. A further 27 in the upper left section are missing due to damage. (An unnamed portrait has been placed in the gap at B 8235 23E, instead of the portrait of John Moore missing due to damage .) A newspaper article that refers to the donation of the mosaic to the Public Library of South Australia in 1894 by Mr CH Hussey of Port Elliot states that it was damaged when Duryea's studio was destroyed by fire on 18 April 1875. (The Advertiser, 17 November 1910.) Mr Hussey's portrait is at B 8235/1 1A.
