She was married to Joseph Gavin (1839-1866) in 1862, and Benjamin Henry Harte (1812-1898) in 1968, and was the mother of W.H. Gavin. A researcher suggests that the photograph is actually an image of Maria Green (1861-1944), daughter of John Green and Elizabeth Griggs, wife of Anthony Freeman Payne Puckridge, and proprietor of the Northern Hotel in Port Lincoln and the Warrow Hotel.

Sign displayed alongside the Barrier Highway in South Australia, which advertises an AMPOL petrol station at the nearby town of Yunta. The sign is roughly made. Part of the Broken Hill to Port Pirie railway line can be seen in the background. The view also shows the sandy soil and sparse vegetation common to the far northern region of South Australia.
