[General description] Telegraph and Post Office in Ellen Street at Port Pirie. The wooden building has a raised front verandah. Next to the Post Office is Brown and Wood Importers of Grocery, drapery, ironmongery and agricultural implements. This is a branch of a retail department store from Waymouth Street in Adelaide. The footpath and road look muddy. [On back of photograph] no information given.

[On front of photograph] At the bottom of the photograph is the caption: 'The first house, showing two old residents. Messrs. Sam Haskett and Charlie Smith.' The house, which appears to be falling down, is of wooden slab construction and has an iron roof. [General description] Shipping, both sail and steam is moored at the wharves in Port Pirie Harbour. The water reflects the ships and their masts, creating an interesting effect. [On back of photograph] There is a partly crossed out message dated 23/2/1910, which reads 'Dear Sir, There is an election on Saturday (Feb 26) to fill the vacancy in the ?'.

Port Pirie wharf showing horse pulled trailers which were replaced by mechanised transport a year later. In the background on the wharf stand stacks of lead bullion which is cast into ingots for export and domestic use. The pallets of ingots are being craned onboard the waiting ship.

Dunn's Mill, Port Pirie. (Sweet Adelaide 398) was established in 1877 as one of Dunn's eleven flour mills. The mill is in the background surrounded by sacks of flour and grain waiting for transportation by ship and train.

Railway station, Port Pirie was built in a striking Victorian Pavilion style in 1902. This replaced the previously Railway Station which opened in 1875. The photograph shows a waiting train with passengers and friends farewelling each other in front of the train
