[On front of photograph] 'Ellen Street, Port Pirie, looking north / 1876' [General description] A number of men and boys are posing for the photographer on the road in front of the Port Pirie Hotel and Wood and Oliver's general store, with its clutter of merchandise. In the centre are two mounted men, probably officials, sitting very upright. A six horse team with a laden wagon stands on the left, and on the right railway men pose with their stationary locomotive. On the extreme right, next to the railway line, a pile of sacks are stacked in front of what appear to be warehouses in the background. Samuel Wills is the first licensee of the Port Pirie Hotel, established in 1873.
