Transporting metal ingots at Port Pirie

A small steam locomotive being used to transport metal ingots at the Port Pirie smelting plant, South Australia. The locomotive is a small Hudswell Clarke product built in Leeds, England, in 1902 (serial number 628), latterly the Wallaroo & Moonta Mining & Smelting Company's number 10). The smelter's Welsh style rectangular chimney is still standing. [from information provided].

[General description] This two storey, concrete rendered building with a tiled roof was built in 1925 by contractor Frederick Fricker on a site in Ellen Street adjoining the High School. The cost of this project was over 9,300. The school has large windows and a pair of Dutch gables over its front porch. [On back of photograph] 'Port Pirie Technical School / Before 1927'.
