Institute at Port Pirie was built in 1896 and is a symmetrical two storey stone building with bay windows on either side of the porticoed entrance. The roof features a centre gable and widow's walk.

Ellen Street, Port Pirie in 1904 shows a wide dirt street lined with two storey buildings on one side and wagons loaded with wool bales standing in the middle of the street. In 1875 the original Ellen Street Station was located with the track running down the middle of the street, as seen in this photograph.

Post and Telegraph Office, Port Pirie opened in 1874. A new post office was built in 1880. In 1898 a meeting was held to discuss the late arrival and non-arrival of letters and the contents of some telegraphs being divulged and other services being abused at the institution.
