Tracing made in 1913 of the plan of the new port at Port Adelaide as designed by His Excellency Col. G. Gawler, K.H., and drawn by T.M. Hastings, divided into sections of 80 and 134 acres. Area of plan extends from Torrens Island to part of site of later Albert Town. Outside map area are names of proprietors of land sections in new development (S.A. Company, T.B. Strangways, J.A. Smith & R.G. Symonds). Scale 10 cm to 1 mile. Signature of E.M. Smith, Surveyor General, dated 25 September 1913 at bottom centre, and 18/21 written in red ink at bottom left.

Panorama of Adelaide and suburban townships covering the area from Torrens Island to Somerton and from Mt. Lofty to Semaphore. Details include roads, rail and tram lines, rivers and creeks, jetties and baths. Sailing ships and steamers can be seen in the Port River and at sea. Shows development at Port Adelaide and Glenelg, then vegetation between Southwark and Thebarton and the coastline.

This chart was compiled from Colonel Light's survey with soundings by S. Hamilton, drawn by F.H. Burslem of the Survey Department and engraved by W. Moffitt, Sydney. Shows coast, river with soundings, and Torrens Island. Includes natural features. Although dated 1839, map and detailed navigation notes on right hand edge date this version at 1840. Title of map at bottom right does not have its supporting kangaroos and emu figures as in map 120/2. Scale 2 inches to 1 mile. (On reverse side is printed the 1839 map without the text on left hand edge, another copy of map 120/2 in this series.) [Double sided map; previously C155 & C156].

A collection of photographs relating to the south-west suburbs of Brighton, Glenelg, Seacliff, Noarlunga and nearby suburbs in South Australia. The group includes a series of photos showing the damage to the Brighton jetty after major storms in 1994 and 1995, and its subsequent re-building. According to brief paperwork attached to the photos (now removed), many of the photographs were published in the Guardian Messenger. Where more than one date has been supplied, one of the dates may refer to the date of publication. See 'contents' for details of individual images.

Cadastral map of the 'District of Adelaide' with Adelaide, North Adelaide and surrounding parklands, Port Adelaide, Holdfast Bay and Glenelg down to the area just south of Marino, the rivers of the Adelaide plains and Port River, and the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges shown. The land sections are all numbered and those held by the South Australian Company coloured in green. Areas within the town grids for Adelaide and North Adelaide have been coloured in red. The map gives a clear indication of the extent of vegetation in 1838 across the Adelaide district. Scale 2 inches to 1 mile. Hand drawn map based on the survey by Light, Finniss & Co., with their company's name and the date October 1838 written in ink, at bottom centre of map. (This map came from the London office of the South Australian Company. It appears to predate the maps of the same area published in London by John Arrowsmith from February 1839 onwards).

The accompanying text are extracts from Light's writings, some dated Feby. 7th [1837], elaborating on his plans for Adelaide. Relief shown by hachures and soundings.
