Paddle steamer Corowa Murray Bridge
[General description] The 'Corowa', moored at the Murray Bridge wharf. She was a composite hulled, stern wheeled paddle steamer built by James Anderson of Moama in 1868 using some materials from the Lady Darlng. Railway Station, Murray Bridge stands on the Adelaide to Wolseley line. Murray Bridge was named when the road bridge over the Murray River was built in 1879. It was followed by the Adelaide to Melbourne railway line which was operating from 1886. The town's original name was Mobilong but prior to European settlement the area was home to the Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal people.

Construction work, Murray Bridge
[General description] Looking along the River Murray from the railway bridge at Murray Bridge. The area on the right will later be occupied by a water pump house, wharf, railway lines servicing the wharf, and the old milk factory, possibly at the start of the construction of the wharf (302' long). The wharf was constructed in 1886 and was reported as being copmleted by the end of 1887.
Steamer at Murray Bridge
River steamer "Blanche" at Murray Bridge in the 1870s. It is interesting to note the construction of the bridge in the background. The "Blanche" was built at Goolwa, 1869. Blanche was 48 tons and in service from 1869-1887. She carried the mail.
Murray Bridge Wharf (Columbia)
Murray Bridge Wharf ("Columbia" a twin screw motor launch, in foreground). A researcher has provided the following information: visible on the wharf is one of the electric railway cranes and its associated tramway-style overhead wire support poles. There were two such cranes, introduced in 1913.

Railway Bridge, Murray Bridge
View of Railway Bridge, Murray Bridge. This shared road and rail bridge existed from 1885 until 1925 when a separate rail bridge was built. The bridge was constructed over marshland and a lagoon. The railway working party reached Murray Bridge in 1884 with the first train arriving in 1885. The railway line across the river was placed in the middle of the road bridge. The foundation stone was laid in 1873

[General description] This bridge spanning the River Murray was built in 1879, and from 1886 carried the railroad as well. The bridge was closed to road traffic when a train was crossing.
