River Steamers and Barges at Murray Bridge : Murrumbidgee on extreme left. According to a researcher, the Pyap is the closest paddle steamer to the camera. By 1880 about 100 steamers and 200 barges were engaged in river trade on the Murray, Murrumbidgee and Darling rivers. Another researcher has provided the following information: 'PS Milang is directly behind the Pyap, but facing in the opposite direction to all the other boats. Beyond the Milang there are 2 steamers mostly hidden from view. The PS Arcadia can be made out between the Milang and the Murrumbidgee. The wheelhouse and name board of the stern wheeler Victoria can be seen between the Milang and the wharf.'
