Standard Brewery, Commercial Street, Mount Gambier. A brewery was opened here in 1856 by Robert Cock who was one of the earliest pioneers in the district. During 1865 the Pioneer Distillery was erected in Commercial Street by the Anderson family. Also during this year Robert Cock leased the Standard Brewery to partners Sharp and Anderson

Palace Hotel in Mount Gambier, a two storey building with wide verandahs and balcony featuring iron lace. It is in course of demolition. It was built by Mr. A. Keiselbach in 1884 and was run as a Coffee Palace. (See B 15847.) Since then the business changed hands several times. According to Bob Hoad (Hotels and Publicans in South Australia 1836- 1894) it was never licensed. Cars parked out front are a VW 'Beetle' and a Holden FC Station Wagon.
